IMMIGRATION ADVISER LICENCING

Under the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 it is an offence to provide immigration advice without being licensed or exempt. Lawyers provide immigration advice and are exempt from licensing under the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act. NZRP (THE NEW ZEALAND RESIDENCE PROGRAMME)

NZRP is New Zealand Residence Programme. NZRP contains residence goals set by Government to meet New Zealand’s ongoing skills requirements and humanitarian commitments.

SECTION 61

A Section 61 request is granted to an applicant who is unlawful and their visa has expired. Decisions under Section 61 are granted under absolute discretion of senior immigration officer. In special case however, an applicant may be granted visa under Section 61 to legalise their immigration status in New Zealand.

LIMITED VISA

Limited visa comes with strict conditions. You cannot apply for a different type of visa if you hold a limited visa. You must leave New Zealand no later than the expiry date of your limited visa. You cannot request special direction under Section 378 or make a Section 61 request. You do not hold any appeal rights when you under on a limited visa.

SPONSORSHIP

A guarantee from a person, organisation or government agency to look after you while you visit, study, work or settle in New Zealand. If you’re coming temporarily, your sponsor will also guarantee the cost of your return home.

IMMIGRATION CONTROL AREA

An airport, or other place which is designated by Immigration New Zealand to process people arriving in, or leaving New Zealand borders.

NEW ZEALAND VISA

A record held by Immigration New Zealand that shows that you are able to travel to, or stay in New Zealand. The visa will have conditions and the expiry date. A visa may or may not be endorsed in your passport.
